Merry Christmas!

The weekend will be an odd one.

In an unusual twist of the sports calendar, the English Premier League will only have one match on Boxing Day this year. Saturday will have a pretty full slate of games, but that makes it just like most other weekends of the year.

I suppose college football bowl games will give TV that unique holiday feeling. Even those exhibitions don’t seem as festive, though, in the midst of a new-ish playoff format and other impacts of players transferring at will.

Next year, I’m planning to use this format for the first time. The focus won’t be sports. This is just a test.
